Shift Type: Primarily Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM (day shift); works 5 out of 6 weekends. On Week 6 schedule: Sunday-Tuesday, 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to Med-Surg patients under limited supervision
• Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care for assigned patients using sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and safely
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care based on patient needs
• Document patient care accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner
• Coordinate with physicians, nursing colleagues, and departments to ensure continuity of care
• Implement infection control policies and promote a safe healing environment
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience preferred
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Abuse Reporter Certification required within 6 months of hire
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
• Comfortable working rotating shifts, weekends and holidays with dependable attendance

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care with strong clinical assessment skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Accurate documentation and charting
• Infection control practices and adherence to policies
• Familiarity with Nurse Practice Act and professional nursing standards
• Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) a plus
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
