Registered Nurse - Surgical Oncology (PCU)
Location: Columbus, OH
Start Date: 04-20-2026
End Date: 08-10-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), rotating; schedule assignments reviewed every 4-week period and may include day or mixed D/N rotations depending on department needs. Weekends variable based on unit needs. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri day shift, Week 2 36 hours on-unit with preceptor.
Hours per Week: 38
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatric patients with surgical oncology and PCU acuity
- Administer and monitor IV medications, chemotherapy, insulin drips, and heparin drips following protocols
- Perform and document blood transfusions and respond to transfusion needs safely
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
- Manage chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care as required by patient condition
- Rapidly assess and respond to oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, PT, and social services
- Accurately document all care in EPIC and contribute to infection prevention and patient falls prevention initiatives
- Precept and support peers during orientation and on-unit learning experiences when applicable
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state where practicing) required
- Minimum 2 years of professional nursing experience; must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- PCU, Med-Surg, and telemetry experience required or strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a busy surgical oncology PCU with mixed acuity and variable staffing ratios (goal 1:4, may be 1:5)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills
- Chemotherapy administration principles and blood transfusion procedures
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting and documentation
- Experience with Alaris pumps, B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, and Stryker beds
- Skilled in infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention strategies
- Familiarity with chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care
- Ability to manage oncologic emergencies and complex IV medication drips
