Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity critical care for adult SICU/Oncology patients using advanced clinical judgment
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and high-flow therapies
• Provide CRRT/CVVHD care and manage patients with acute or chronic renal failure
• Titrate and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips, and manage continuous IV sedation safely and effectively
• Perform and oversee arterial line, central line, PICC line care and blood product administration
• Support neurocritical care: EVD management, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care
• Lead emergency responses including massive transfusion protocol activation and advanced dysrhythmia management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, social services) to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document patient care in Epic and maintain meticulous charting practices
• Float to James MICU or UH MICU/SICU/M/S/PCU as needed, adapting quickly to different unit workflows

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state-specific licensure as required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (must meet experience within the last 3 years with at least 1 year current specialty experience)
• Epic charting experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not eligible)
• Comfort and competence with high-acuity interventions: ventilators, CRRT, vasoactive drips, massive transfusion
• Ability to complete a 72-hour orientation and adapt to floating between units when needed
• Flu vaccine required per facility policy (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/CVVHD)
• Vasopressor and inotropic titration and hemodynamic monitoring
• Arterial, central, and PICC line management and blood product administration
• Tracheostomy care and advanced airway management
• Interpretation of ABGs and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Phlebotomy, infection prevention, and isolation precautions
• Familiarity with massive transfusion protocol and emergency medication administration
