Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality inpatient psychiatric nursing care using the nursing process for patients with complex behavioral health needs
• Lead and provide clinical supervision to Mental Health Workers to ensure safe and therapeutic delivery of care
• Conduct group and individual interventions to support recovery for patients with co-occurring disorders
• Manage medically assisted withdrawal and stabilization interventions in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Assume charge/lead responsibilities when scheduled, coordinating unit activities and staffing
• Float to other units as needed and adapt quickly to changing team and patient needs
• Communicate clearly with the treatment team and patients’ families to support continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience; inpatient psychiatric experience required within the last 3 months (LTC not accepted)
• Recent adult forensics or intensive psychiatric experience within the last 3 months is required
• Ability and willingness to float to other units and take charge shifts
• Two supervisory references from the last two years of employment required
• Resume must list psych experience and patient age groups; psych skills checklist from last year required
• Driver's license or candidate address required for submission (proximity rule applies)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong psychiatric nursing skills with focus on adult forensics and intensive behavioral health
• Experience with co-occurring disorders treatment and medically assisted withdrawal
• Clinical supervision and leadership skills for guiding MHWs and junior staff
• Skilled in the nursing process, stabilization techniques, and crisis intervention
• Comfortable running groups and delivering individual therapeutic interventions
• Familiarity with inpatient psych documentation, safety protocols, and charge nurse duties
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) experience or willingness to complete CPI training
