Roles & Responsibilities

• Float to Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed and provide consistent, high-quality bedside nursing
• Maintain safety for staff and patients within a locked corrections environment, working collaboratively with Corrections Officers
• Monitor telemetry and interpret/manage dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate emergency responses
• Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies following protocols, including heparin and PCA management
• Perform central line and PICC line care, start and maintain peripheral IVs, and handle phlebotomy duties
• Manage respiratory support including tracheostomy care, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Document care thoroughly using EPIC and manage medication dispensing with Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, respiratory, PT, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams

Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience within the most recent 3 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Comfort and ability to work safely in a locked corrections unit with controlled access
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing, including unit-based telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, starting IVs
• Phlebotomy and peripheral line care
• Respiratory support: tracheostomy care, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen devices and non-invasive airway management
• ABG interpretation and IV insulin/heparin protocols
• PCA management and familiarity with management of cardiac drips (no titration)
• Feeding tube care, surgical drain care, isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with Pyxis medication system and strong EPIC documentation skills
