Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult and geriatric MICU patients, including ventilator and hemodynamic support
• Manage mechanical ventilation and advanced airway care, including suctioning and ABG interpretation
• Initiate and maintain IV access, administer blood products, and care for central, arterial, and PICC lines
• Operate and monitor CRRT and other specialty devices (NxStage CRRT), and coordinate care with respiratory and pharmacy teams
• Respond to cardiac emergencies: interpret dysrhythmias, manage life-saving interventions and titrate vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Administer complex medication regimens including continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—pharmacy, respiratory, PT, social services—to create and execute individualized care plans
• Document thoroughly in EPIC and maintain accurate, timely charting to support safe patient care

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state licensure required for Ohio practice)
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience (must meet experience within the 3 most recent years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required)
• Certifications required: ACLS and BLS; NIH/NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting experience (required)
• Proven competency with ventilator management, IV starts/therapy, and central/arterial line care
• Travel nurse experience required; no first-time travelers (hard stop)
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and float as needed; comfortable with 1:2 patient ratios

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• CRRT operation and renal failure management (NxStage experience a plus)
• IV starts, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Arterial line, central line and PICC care/management
• ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP management
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips; continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and safe phlebotomy techniques
• Familiarity with specialty equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Cortrak NG/Dobhoff, GE monitors
