Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for ICU adults — assess, intervene and document to keep patients stable
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and monitor strips, communicating changes to the team promptly
• Titrate cardiac drips, insulin and sedation safely and following unit protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RT, physicians, support techs) to deliver coordinated care
• Troubleshoot respiratory support down to nasal cannula-to-vent transitions and escalate when needed
• Educate patients and families during critical care stays and at bedside handoffs
• Participate in unit orientation, pass skills assessments and maintain high standards of practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit required) — license must be valid at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care nursing experience (unit requires demonstrated competency)
• Driver's license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
• Ability to safely titrate drips and manage hemodynamically unstable patients
• Willingness to pass a skills/knowledge exam during orientation (90% required)
• Adherence to unit policies (for example: artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (information on file indicates BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and patient monitoring skills (GE monitors used on unit)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Experience with ventilator troubleshooting and familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/High Flow
• Comfort caring for trauma, cardiac, stroke and high-acuity medical-surgical cases
• Safe medication administration and drip titration experience
• Ability to function in a 1:2-3 nurse:patient ratio and adapt when floating to PCU/MedSurg
