Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and continuously monitor critically ill patients, recognizing subtle changes and escalating care promptly
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond with appropriate ACLS interventions when needed
• Administer medications safely, following basic pharmacology principles and facility protocols
• Perform NIHSS assessments when indicated and document neurologic status accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
• Maintain required competencies via exams and skills checklists to ensure high-quality patient care
• Provide compassionate patient- and family-centered education and support during critical moments
• Float to other units within scope, supporting ED holds, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical areas as assigned

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license required
• Minimum of recent 2 years of ICU experience and training
• BLS current upon hire and must be maintained
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Nursys registration required
• PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; RN-C certification within 2 years of hire preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and best practices
• Patient monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and basic rhythm interpretation
• Basic pharmacology for ICU medications
• Telemetery and experience with Tele/Medical-Surgical care
• Ability to function in Emergency Department holds and float assignments
• Strong clinical decision-making and teamwork skills
