Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative and surgical nursing care to adult and/or pediatric patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs throughout the surgical episode
• Prepare patients and surgical areas using strict sterile technique and OR protocols
• Administer medications and assist with anesthesia monitoring as appropriate
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient care
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record and complete required checklists and competencies
• Coach and educate patients and families about pre- and post-operative instructions to support recovery

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (Nursys verification required)
• Surgical RN experience or strong perioperative background
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Completion of required facility testing: pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, core competencies, skills checklist, specialty exam
• Clean background and health screening: drug screen (10-panel), TB testing/PPD, appropriate immunizations including COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, and influenza
• Fit testing compliant and ability to meet site-specific health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative workflows, sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Skillful patient assessment and clinical decision making in the OR setting
• Familiarity with EHR documentation and perioperative documentation standards
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritize in fast-paced surgical environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with surgeons and multidisciplinary staff
• Basic pharmacology knowledge relevant to surgical patients
