Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality nursing care for patients from pediatric to geriatric populations in the Emergency Department
• Perform ESI five-level triage and prioritize care to keep patient flow efficient and safe
• Assess patients and implement age-appropriate interventions, including IV therapy and medication administration
• Document thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record, ensuring legal and clinical clarity
• Respond to emergencies with calm, effective resuscitation and crisis management
• Administer blood and blood products safely and monitor patient responses
• Collaborate and communicate with physicians, ancillary services and external agencies to optimize care
• Maintain and restock equipment and supplies; complete checklists to ensure readiness each shift
• Participate in education for pre-hospital providers and students to strengthen the care community

Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS & PALS required
• TNCC or ATCN required; ENPC preferred; NRP encouraged
• Proven experience in Emergency Department nursing, comfortable from triage through resuscitation
• Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize under pressure
• Strong verbal communication and collaboration skills; able to advocate for patients

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5-level process
• Comprehensive patient assessment from pediatric to geriatric
• IV insertion, IV therapy and medication administration
• Emergency resuscitation protocols and life support monitoring
• Blood and blood products administration and monitoring
• Electronic medical record documentation with medical terminology
• Prioritization, delegation and crisis management in a fast-paced ED
• Clear collaboration and communication with multidisciplinary teams
