Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for stepdown patients during night shifts, focusing on safety and stability
• Assess, monitor and document patient condition using established protocols and timely communication
• Implement and manage advanced monitoring and interventions for patients stepping down from higher acuity
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and the multidisciplinary team to drive patient-centered care
• Respond to emergencies appropriately, initiating ACLS/NIHSS and other protocols when needed
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions with attention to accuracy and patient education
• Perform and maintain competency-based skills and complete required facility testing and checklists

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys verification (Kansas licensure expected)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required prior to start
• DCI/BVP certification and License/Certificate Verification completed as part of credentialing
• Completion of Prime assessments: Basic Pharmacology, Rhythm Interpretation, Core Competencies and Specialty exams as requested
• Ability to pass required health screenings: TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, influenza, COVID-19 vaccination and drug screen
• Comfort and experience working in a stepdown/unit environment; strong rhythm interpretation skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Stepdown care practices and intermediate acuity monitoring
• Rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Basic pharmacology knowledge relevant to stepdown nursing
• Stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Glucose management and related protocols
• Core clinical competencies and facility-specific policies
• Proficiency with documentation, handoffs and multidisciplinary communication
