Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight and leadership for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and staff performance
• Directly supervise certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians, including competency assessments and clinical mentoring
• Design, coordinate, and lead clinical education and competency programs for OT staff to maintain best practices and regulatory compliance
• Maintain and update OT policies and procedures addressing scope of care, evaluation and treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), delivering hands-on, evidence-based OT services
• Oversee documentation standards and auditing to ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements
• Support program development and perform assigned administrative duties (approximately 20% of time) to improve department operations and patient outcomes
• Collaborate with Rehabilitation Services and regulatory bodies to ensure departmental alignment with state practice acts and professional recommendations

Qualifications

• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of California (Board of Medical Quality Assurance) - required
• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association - required
• Ability to provide direct supervision of COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians and to lead competency assessments
• Familiarity with state practice acts, regulatory compliance, and documentation standards
• Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) - preferred
• Willingness to function within the scope defined by the CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
