Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterization procedures and ensure consent/documentation is present prior to start
• Assist the RN and physician with room setup, patient preparation, and procedure support to deliver safe, efficient care
• Operate and accurately utilize x-ray equipment and angiography systems independently during procedures
• Ensure radiation safety compliance for patients and staff throughout procedures
• Obtain and demonstrate safe hemostasis following procedures
• Document all procedures accurately in the MacLab system
• Perform procedure room turnover following infection control protocols after every case
• Administer intra-coronary medications per Bayhealth and unit policies when indicated
• Participate in continuing education, maintain required certifications, and engage in professional development activities
• Perform other duties within the scope of the role to support the Cath Lab team

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR Associate Degree/graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
• RCIS required if graduated from a Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduated from a Radiologic Technologist program (to be obtained within 4 months of hire if not already held)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required (obtainable within 90 days if not current)
• Required: 18 months experience in diagnostic radiology OR completion of an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program with Program Director and Clinical Site Preceptor recommendation
• Preferred: 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences OR graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven experience with cardiac catheterization and cardiac Cath Lab procedures
• Skilled in x-ray equipment operation and radiation safety practices
• Competent with MacLab documentation and procedure charting
• Able to obtain hemostasis and manage vascular access post-procedure
• Familiar with sterile technique, room turnover, and infection control protocols
• Comfortable assisting with electrophysiology and other interventional lab procedures
• Medication administration knowledge for intra-coronary therapies
• Strong patient preparation and communication skills
