Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and maintain a comprehensive risk management program in accordance with Alaska statutes
Investigate and evaluate adverse incidents and submit reports that meet regulatory requirements
Oversee the patient safety program and drive process improvements to reduce medical errors
Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to identify system-based solutions
Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and care teams after adverse events
Perform chart audits and clinical reviews to support accreditation and quality initiatives
Provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, leadership, and physicians
Collaborate with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality-of-care matters

Qualifications

Current, full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
CPHRM certification (must be obtained within two years if not currently held)
Clinical competency required within 3 months and revalidation every 3 years
Minimum 3 years experience in risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory processes
Demonstrated leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating with multidisciplinary groups
Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license

Education

Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska
CPHRM certification (within two years if not current)

Risk management and patient safety principles
Incident investigation and regulatory reporting
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Accreditation standards and compliance (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF)
Grievance analysis and patient safety rounds
Chart audits, clinical review, and data support
Education and training delivery for clinical teams
Strong communication, collaboration, and team facilitation skills
