Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on clinical support to nursing staff, serving as a go-to clinical practice resource and mentor
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation programs, staff updates, and ongoing continuing education
• Assess patients and support staff with complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment plans
• Identify clinical practice gaps through data analysis and develop targeted interventions to improve outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based standards of care and new clinical protocols
• Facilitate staff training for new equipment, procedures, and practice changes to ensure safe adoption
• Perform quality control audits, monitor nursing-related issues, and report concerns to leadership
• Serve as an advocate for patients and families while promoting ethical standards and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the State of Alaska
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC)
• Minimum of 5 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience preferred
• Flexibility to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays as needed
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards, safe medication administration, and acute care procedures
• Ability to conduct comprehensive patient assessments and assist with specialized unit procedures
• Experience with evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and gap analysis
• Proficient with electronic health records systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent teaching skills and ability to deliver effective education to staff, students, and families
• Calm, clear communication in high-stress situations and strong interpersonal abilities
