Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age‑specific direct personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance
• Take and accurately record vital signs and measure outputs, reporting abnormal findings to the care team
• Assist with restorative care activities such as range of motion and use of assistive devices
• Follow infection control practices and universal precautions to keep residents and staff safe
• Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions clearly and promptly
• Support activities of daily living and encourage residents’ independence while maintaining dignity and respect
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to implement care plans and communicate resident needs

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or equivalent certification
• Minimum six (6) months experience working in a long-term care (LTC) facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six (6) months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English and follow oral/written instructions
• Demonstrated patience, tact, emotional stability, and ability to work well with patients who may be slow, repetitive or confused
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

• Taking vital signs and recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms
• Basic nursing skills, basic medical and nursing terminology
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Patient hygiene, personal care, and restorative care techniques
• Body mechanics and safe patient handling
• Observation, documentation, and accurate reporting
• Cultural competency and respectful patient-centered care
• Strong oral and written communication, patience and tact
