Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care across the lifespan
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and create individualized care plans
- Modify treatment plans based on patient progress, age-specific needs, and cultural context
- Deliver ADL training, therapeutic exercise programs (including Theraband), and modality treatments like ultrasound and electrical stimulation as appropriate
- Perform home visits and village outreach to support patients in their everyday environments
- Collaborate closely with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Document patient encounters, plans of care, and medical correspondence accurately and professionally
- Incorporate evidence-based practice into interventions and support knowledge-sharing with peers
- Uphold professional conduct, patient care ethics, and culturally respectful communication with diverse populations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Licensed in Alaska as an OT or holding a good-standing OT license in another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current NBCOT certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- Immunizations or documented titers for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tdap, and Polio (or acceptable historical records)
- Background checks and clearances (national/criminal background, 10-panel drug screen within 90 days, OIG/SAM/NSOR checks) as part of onboarding
- Strong didactic/teaching skills and comfort with Direct Access responsibilities
- Willingness and ability to travel for village/home visits and work in resource-limited settings
- No minimum clinical experience required (experience preferred)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy practice
- Patient assessment, clinical reasoning, and individualized care planning
- ADL training and therapeutic exercise program design (including Theraband programs)
- Use of modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation
- Clear and professional patient documentation and medical correspondence
- Cultural competency and effective communication with non-English-speaking or different-culture patients
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with medical providers and long-term care teams
- Ability to adapt therapy for home and village-based settings with limited equipment
- Evidence-based practice application and continued learning
