Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer radiation treatments precisely and safely according to physician-prescribed plans
• Operate and troubleshoot linear accelerators, tomotherapy units, CT simulator, and brachytherapy equipment
• Set up and verify patient positioning and immobilization for each treatment session
• Follow and document the patient treatment plan, adjustments, and daily treatment records
• Monitor patients during therapy, including sedation/analgesia care and inpatient monitoring when needed
• Ensure radiation safety, perform quality assurance checks, and comply with regulatory standards
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, nurses, and support staff to deliver coordinated care
• Provide compassionate patient education and emotional support throughout the treatment process

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State license as a Radiation Therapist (required)
• Current CPR certification at Healthcare Professional level (required)
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
• Ability to perform required physical tasks (standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, repetitive arm/hand motions)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to radiation, body fluids, and mechanical equipment

Education

• Licensure/certification required: Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license
• CPR (Healthcare Professional) certification required
• No specific academic degree listed in the job description

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in radiation safety and patient care during radiation therapy
• Proficiency with linear accelerators, tomotherapy, CT simulators, and brachytherapy units (HDR and LDR)
• Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery, total body irradiation, and external beam radiation therapy
• Strong attention to detail for treatment setup, verification, and documentation
• Ability to monitor and support patients who require intensive observation or sedation
