Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based chemotherapy and infusion treatments in an outpatient setting
• Assess patient health history and current status to inform care and treatment decisions
• Administer chemotherapy per physician orders while adhering to Cancer Care policies and safety protocols
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, side-effect management, and self-care
• Monitor patients closely during and after infusion visits, addressing physical and emotional needs
• Triage and prioritize patient care needs, coordinating with physicians and the broader cancer care team
• Document care and communicate patient status and changes to physicians and leadership
• Participate in quality improvement and infection control practices to maintain a safe care environment

Qualifications

• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Administration Certification — required
• Minimum of 2 years of chemotherapy administration experience — required
• EPIC electronic health record experience — required
• Oncology infusion nursing experience (outpatient infusion preferred)
• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state of practice)
• Strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy skills, and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (required)
• Oncology certification/training such as ONS chemotherapy fundamentals (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and cancer symptom management
• Chemotherapy administration and infusion best practices
• Patient assessment and triage skills for outpatient oncology
• Patient and family education focused on chemotherapy and symptom management
• Infection control standards and safe handling of cytotoxic agents
• Proficiency with EPIC for documentation and care coordination
