Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy assistance to residents, supporting daily living activities and functional goals
- Implement treatment plans developed by the occupational therapist and document resident progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, therapists and family members to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive techniques, equipment use and safety strategies
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to facility and regulatory standards
- Assist with mobility, transfers and restorative programs to promote independence and quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential in good standing
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- State licensure or ability to obtain Montana COTA licensure prior to start
- Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation or long term care preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before start)
- Strong communication, patient-handling and documentation skills
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field; COTA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADL training and adaptive equipment
- Knowledge of therapeutic activities, positioning and restorative care
- Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
- Strong observational skills and ability to modify treatments based on resident response
