Roles & Responsibilities

• Audit provider medical records to validate ICD-10 and CPT code accuracy and ensure documentation supports coding decisions
• Compile clear audit reports with analysis of findings and maintain audit logs for continuous improvement
• Communicate constructively with physicians and midlevel providers to validate observations and provide targeted education
• Design and implement documentation support tools in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager
• Develop and deliver both formal and informal education plans for providers, coders, and charge entry staff
• Train and onboard new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines
• Support coding operations by performing coding procedures as needed and assisting with performance evaluations

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) — required
• Minimum five (5) years of combined inpatient/outpatient coding and auditing experience
• Experience coding professional claims in a medical office–based setting
• Proven experience interacting with physicians to provide feedback and education
• Comfort working onsite and collaborating closely with revenue cycle teams
• Strong audit reporting and audit log maintenance experience
• Experience in multi-specialty group practice settings preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in a related field (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• ICD-10 and CPT coding expertise
• Medical record auditing and quality review techniques
• Provider education and effective physician communication
• Revenue cycle knowledge and charge entry awareness
• Ability to compile audit analyses and present findings clearly
• Familiarity with maintaining audit lodges and audit documentation
