Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage and manage emergency patients quickly and compassionately to ensure safe, effective care
• Provide advanced life support interventions using ALS/BLS protocols when needed
• Administer medications and perform emergency procedures such as cardioversion, TNK administration and moderate sedation per unit protocols
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate closely with providers, CNCs, paramedics and the care team to coordinate efficient patient flow
• Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 4:1) and adapt to changing volume and acuity
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by being a team player, flexible and upbeat

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure for practice in Texas (compact licensure accepted where applicable)
• Minimum 1 year ED experience required; 2 years ED experience preferred
• BLS and ALS required
• TNCC and ENPC or PALS required (ENPC preferred over PALS)
• Competence with emergency procedures including cardioversion, TNK and moderate sedation
• Comfort working a rotating schedule that includes weekend shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience using Meditech EMR for documentation and patient charting
• Strong triage, assessment and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced ED environment
• Familiarity with emergency equipment (Welch Allyn/GE) and bedside monitoring
• Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication, delegation and time-management skills under a 4:1 patient ratio
• Commitment to patient-centered care and unit-based collaboration
