Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to patients and families during labor, delivery and postpartum
• Continuously monitor fetal status and interpret fetal heart tracings to support safe outcomes
• Assist with and support C-section procedures in collaboration with the surgical and anesthesia teams
• Deliver newborn care including well-infant assessments and basic NICU support as needed
• Document care accurately and timely using the CPN documentation system
• Operate and manage Alaris IV pump therapy safely and according to unit protocols
• Communicate clearly with physicians, lactation consultants, unit staff and families to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care and discharge planning to promote positive transitions

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience with Labor & Delivery or relevant maternal-newborn care experience
• Current NRP and BLS certification required; ACLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required or preferred per unit notes
• Comfort and prior experience with fetal monitoring interpretation and management
• Experience with C-section intraoperative support and postpartum care
• Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented settings and maintain patient-centered care

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring skills and interpretation (electronic fetal monitoring)
• Neonatal resuscitation knowledge and well-infant care (NRP experience)
• Familiarity with CPN electronic documentation systems
• Competence using Alaris IV pumps and managing IV therapies
• Ability to manage variable patient ratios (1:1–2 in LDRP; postpartum and well infant ratios noted)
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and clinical prioritization skills
• Comfort working in a combined Women’s/NICU unit environment
