Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and perioperative team throughout a wide range of procedures, from elective cases to critical, life-saving operations
• Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, and the sterile field before and during surgery
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure instrument counts and safety protocols are followed
• Anticipate surgical team needs and deliver instruments and supplies promptly to keep cases flowing
• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments according to hospital standards
• Document case-related activities and maintain accurate profile/certification records as required
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and ancillary staff to support optimal patient outcomes
• Respond promptly and professionally when on call to support urgent surgical needs

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of CST experience required
• Preferred experience in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Endovascular, Urology, and OB/GYN
• Physical copies of listed certifications recommended for your profile
• References are not required for submission
• Note for nurses only: Michigan license verification (LARA and Nursys) is required; if there’s a license history, provide a brief explanation for manager review

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, instrument identification, and operative procedures
• Familiarity with surgical workflows across multiple specialties (ortho, general, endovascular, urology, OB/GYN)
• Ability to perform accurate instrument counts and support patient safety protocols
• Comfort working in a fast-paced OR environment and responding on call within 20 minutes
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and techs
• Attention to detail for documentation and maintaining credential/professional profiles
