Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform CT simulation and accurate patient setup to map treatment areas precisely before therapy
- Administer ionizing radiation treatments according to physician-approved plans and protocols
- Interpret treatment plans and ensure safe, precise delivery while following radiation safety regulations
- Position patients and utilize immobilization and breath-hold techniques to maximize treatment accuracy
- Operate and troubleshoot modern radiation therapy delivery and imaging systems (including CT simulation)
- Document treatments and simulation details in the electronic medical record and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Provide training and mentoring to colleagues on simulation procedures and best practices
- Maintain required certifications and comply with facility policies including mandatory seasonal flu vaccination requirements
Qualifications
- R.T. (T) certification required
- Minimum 2 years experience in Radiation Oncology with STRONG simulation experience
- AHA BLS certification required
- Working knowledge of radiation safety, radiobiology and radiation physics
- Experience with SRS, SBRT, Breath Hold, Superficial techniques and HDR
- Experience with electronic medical records; Mosaiq highly preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
Education
- Completion of an accredited radiation therapy training program
- R.T. (T) certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- CT imaging and simulation techniques
- Patient positioning and immobilization for radiation therapy
- Radiation safety and current regulatory standards
- Treatment delivery and plan interpretation
- Anatomy, physiology, pathology and oncology fundamentals
- Radiation physics and radiobiology basics
- Experience with SRS, SBRT, HDR and superficial radiotherapy
- Electronic medical record documentation and workflow (Mosaiq preferred)
- Strong communication skills and ability to train/mentor staff
- Compassionate patient care and attention to psychosocial aspects of cancer
