Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality EEG examinations and assist neurologists and neuro technologists with EMGs and NCVs
• Prepare patients and equipment, obtain concise patient histories, and verify patient ID and MD orders
• Produce accurate, clinically-focused EEG reports and document observations clearly
• Recognize and eliminate artifacts, and perform activation procedures such as hyperventilation
• Maintain and make appropriate adjustments to equipment to ensure reliable test results
• Explain procedures to patients and families and provide patient education and infection-control precautions
• Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and participate in BLS-level patient emergency response

Qualifications

• 2+ years of EEG and/or EMG experience (required)
• EMG/Neuro experience (required)
• Active ABRET certification (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
• Submission materials required: skills checklist (current to 1 year) and 2 supervisory reference forms with dates employed
• Candidates must provide permanent address (facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius)
• Applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are generally not eligible (facility will review case-by-case)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in EEG performance and EEG report writing
• Experience assisting with EMG and supporting nerve conduction studies (NCV)
• Strong artifact recognition and elimination techniques
• Familiar with activation procedures (e.g., hyperventilation) and patient preparation
• Comfortable with equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of neurology and effects of medications on EEGs
• Ability to verify MD orders and confirm patient identification
• Experience using Cerner EMR and following infection control practices
• Patient communication and education skills
