Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights (night-only), typically 3x12-hour nights per week; 06:45 PM - 01:05 AM NOC (schedule varies by rotation). Weekend coverage: approximately 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible).

Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and care for adult cardiac and post-op patients on telemetry with vigilance and clinical expertise
- Interpret dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate responses in collaboration with the care team
- Perform sheath removals and manage femoral sheaths and related postoperative care safely
- Manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) and non-invasive airway support such as CPAP/BiPAP and nasal cannula
- Administer and manage cardiac drips per protocol (both non-titration management and titration where required)
- Provide post-MI, post-cardiac cath and post-electrophysiology procedure care with attention to detail
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams using SBAR and documentation systems (Epic preferred)
- Participate in unit hurricane/storm teams and respond as needed during catastrophic events
Qualifications
- Active RN license (NC or Compact RN license recommended)
- Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor (travel experience required unless you have >24 months cardiac experience)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Comfortable with night shifts and occasional float rotations (unit rotation, not first to float)
- Able to work on Storm/Hurricane/Disaster teams as required by facility policy
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Sheath removal and femoral sheath management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac) and chest tube troubleshooting
- Management of cardiac drips (titration and non-titration scenarios)
- Arterial line and central line care, IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
- Proficiency or comfort with Epic and Pyxis documentation/med dispensing systems
- Non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BiPAP and oxygen modalities
- Familiarity with post-cardiac surgery care and common procedures (CABG, TAVR, pacemakers, etc.)
