Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including feeding, bathing, ambulation and skin care
- Take and record vital signs and weights accurately and promptly
- Monitor and document resident intake and output according to unit standards
- Report changes in resident condition or measurements immediately to the RN/LPN
- Follow universal precautions and infection control procedures at all times
- Support resident orientation to the unit, facility and available services
- Maintain confidentiality and advocate for resident rights and dignity
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Maine C.N.A. license required
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and providing hands-on resident care
- Ability to take initial vital signs and provide timely weights to nursing staff
- Strong teamwork, effective listening and clear communication skills
- Empathy, flexibility and the ability to remain objective in difficult situations
- Experience in long term care or skilled rehabilitation preferred
Education
- Active Maine C.N.A. license
Knowledge & Skills
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) assistance and resident hygiene
- Vital signs measurement and patient monitoring
- Intake and output tracking and accurate patient documentation
- Infection control and universal precautions
- Basic feeding, ambulation assistance and skin care techniques
- Teamwork, effective listening, empathy and clear communication
