Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care to Med-Surg and post-operative Spine/Ortho patients
- Perform focused nursing assessments and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses
- Deliver efficient emergency department support when acute needs arise
- Manage an assigned patient ratio of up to 1:5 while prioritizing safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate post-op recovery and discharge planning
- Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Work scheduled holidays as required to ensure continuous patient coverage
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license (required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (current)
- Med/Surg experience with demonstrated competence
- Spine/Ortho post-operative patient experience (required)
- Night-shift experience and comfort working overnight hours
- Able to safely manage a 1:5 patient ratio
- COVID-19 vaccination per state mandate (required)
- Willingness to work scheduled holidays
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong post-operative nursing care and wound/orthopedic assessment skills
- Emergency department triage and acute care fundamentals
- Medication administration and IV management
- Skilled nursing assessments and clinical decision-making
- Patient assignment and time management for up to 1:5 ratios
- Clear documentation, handoff communications, and teamwork
- Infection control practices and adherence to state mandates
