Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate patient care by assisting with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting)
- Take and report initial vital signs and weights promptly to nursing staff
- Monitor and accurately document intake and output per unit standards and physician orders
- Follow and promote infection control and universal precautions to keep residents safe
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions and documentation
- Support the RN/LPN team by delivering care as directed and reporting changes in condition
- Help orient patients, residents and families to the unit, facility and available services
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to create a positive, resident-centered environment
Qualifications
- Active Maine C.N.A. License (required)
- Comfort and experience assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Ability to take vital signs and report changes to nursing staff in a timely manner
- Demonstrated teamwork, good communication, and a respectful approach with residents and families
- Experience with long-term care or skilled rehabilitation residents preferred
- Empathy, flexibility, and the ability to remain objective in challenging situations
Education
- Active Maine C.N.A. License
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and hands-on ADL support
- Vital signs measurement and basic clinical observations
- Intake and output monitoring and accurate documentation
- Infection control and universal precautions
- Patient confidentiality and dignity standards
- Team communication and collaboration within a nursing unit
- Basic orientation and family/resident education
