Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and coordinate nursing care for adult behavioral health clients using sound clinical judgment
• Develop individualized care plans, set measurable outcomes, and evaluate progress
• Prepare, administer, and accurately document medications in accordance with policy
• Provide direct client care and emergency interventions as needed to maintain safety
• Lead and direct other staff in client care delivery and make nursing assignments based on skill level
• Conduct group therapies, participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning, and revise plans based on assessments
• Maintain accurate, concise nursing documentation and ensure compliance with infection control procedures
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, and process improvement initiatives to enhance unit care

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills (APS) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; B.S.N. preferred (or equivalent years of experience)
• Experience in behavioral health nursing and night-shift care preferred
• Ability to stand for 4-6 hours, lift up to 25 pounds when assisting clients, and meet physical demands of the role
• Demonstrated clinical competence, critical thinking, and ability to direct others responsibly

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• B.S.N. preferred or equivalent years of nursing experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, care planning, and outcome-focused nursing
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Infection control procedures and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment
• Clinical documentation systems (Meditech) and MS Office familiarity
• Group therapy facilitation and multidisciplinary treatment planning
• Process improvement mindset and strong communication skills
• 10-key/computer office equipment experience for unit tasks
