Roles & Responsibilities

• Process, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and specialty equipment with precision and care
• Perform flexible endoscope reprocessing using Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) and high-level disinfection protocols
• Assemble, label, and organize procedure trays and loaner/consignment trays to support surgical services
• Conduct sterilization monitoring and documentation including biological and chemical indicators and Steris/Sterrad testing
• Use Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) for equipment tracking and documentation to ensure traceability
• Employ aseptic technique and strict infection prevention practices to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with perioperative teams to ensure specialty instruments (robotics, laparoscopic, ENT, urology, etc.) are ready for cases

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of travel sterile processing experience required; experienced travelers only
• Hands-on experience with endoscope reprocessing and Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER)
• Comfortable using Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and electronic charting (Epic required)
• Familiarity with sterilization monitoring: biological and chemical indicators, steam/Steris/Sterrad testing
• Preferred certifications: CBSPD, IAHCSMM or HSPA (one of these preferred)
• Ability to work a mid shift schedule and occasional weekends; reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focused

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile Processing and Sterilization best practices
• Endoscope and flexible endoscope reprocessing (bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD, ERCP, EBUS, EUS, etc.)
• Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER) operation and high-level disinfection (HLD)
• Use and maintenance of washers and sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners
• Tray assembly, wrapping procedures, proper labeling and loaner/consignment tray handling
• Experience with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) for instrument tracking
• Understanding of specialty equipment processing (robotics, laparoscopic, ophthalmology, urology, orthopedics)
