Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients with cardiopulmonary needs
- Set up, monitor and adjust mechanical ventilators and related critical-care equipment
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analyze results to guide treatment
- Deliver oxygen therapy, nebulized medications and other respiratory treatments safely and effectively
- Document all care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR/EMR)
- Educate patients and families — create and evaluate individualized teaching plans
- Inspect, maintain and follow sterilization procedures for respiratory equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Participate in performance improvement (CQI) initiatives to enhance department quality and safety
Qualifications
- Montana Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (required)
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (required)
- American Heart Association BLS (required)
- ACLS, PALS and NRP required within 3 months of hire
- Preferred: NBRC-NPS (Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist) and/or NBRC-ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist)
- Comfortable working night shifts, weekends and participating in on-call rotation
- Proven ability to perform mechanical ventilation management, ABG sampling and respiratory assessments
Education
- Professional licensure and NBRC certification required; program completion not explicitly stated in job posting

- Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
- Oxygen delivery methods and nebulized medication administration

- Equipment sterilization, safety checks and preventive maintenance
- Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
- Comfort with MS Office and common clinical computer applications
