Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
- Manage nursery care for newborns and collaborate closely with pediatric support as needed
- Perform and interpret fetal monitoring (stable and intermediate) to ensure maternal-fetal wellbeing
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and participate in neonatal resuscitation when required
- Serve as an OB circulator when needed to support deliveries and surgical procedures
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and care plans accurately and timely
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, individualized care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential — position title indicates RN
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications (required)
- Demonstrated experience in Labor & Delivery with ability to manage antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and nursery care
- Comfortable with stable and intermediate fetal monitoring
- OB circulator experience preferred
- Ability to work in a rural hospital setting and manage an average volume of approximately 20-30 deliveries per month
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) — active license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical judgment in obstetric and neonatal care
- Skilled in fetal monitoring and maternal/fetal assessment
- Proficient in neonatal resuscitation techniques (NRP)
- Ability to perform ACLS and BLS protocols confidently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
- Competent documentation and electronic medical record usage
