Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality endoscopy nursing care to adult patients before, during, and after procedures
- Perform pre-op assessments and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures
- Monitor patients intra- and post-procedure, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth workflow
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records in accordance with hospital standards
- Participate in cross-training to support Pre-op staffing needs when required
- Adhere to infection control, sterile technique, and safety protocols for endoscopy procedures
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; ability to practice in California is required
- Prior endoscopy nursing experience is required
- Experience working in Pre-op settings and willingness to cross-train
- Comfort with occasional call coverage, though minimal per the role
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications as applicable are a plus
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of endoscopy procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique
- Skilled in pre-op assessment and post-procedure recovery monitoring
- Proficient in patient education, comfort measures, and managing anxiety
- Good documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced procedural environment
- Team-oriented communication and collaboration skills
