Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to progressive care patients from admission through discharge
- Assess and monitor patients using telemetry and advanced assessment tools, intervening promptly for changes
- Manage advanced lines and devices including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, NG tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Provide invasive and noninvasive ventilatory support and manage ventilator settings as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans and discharge planning
- Serve as a clinical leader on the unit: give direction to staff, assist with precepting, and promote best practices
- Document care and communicate effectively with providers, charge nurses, and leadership to ensure continuity of care
- Support pediatric and adult patient populations across a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN license (required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS required or obtainable within 6 months of hire
- Recent experience in Progressive Care, Medical-Surgical with recent Critical Care or PCU experience required
- Comfortable managing patients with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and ventilator support
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Preferred: EPNC, TNCC certifications, pediatric experience, and precepting/clinical leadership experience
Education
- Degree from a Nursing Program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Telemetry monitoring and advanced EKG interpretation
- Ventilator management (invasive and noninvasive) and ventilator troubleshooting
- IV pump management and care of multiple IVs
- Familiarity with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Discharge planning and patient/family education
- Ability to operate advanced medical equipment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Effective communication, leadership, and precepting abilities
