Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for safe, efficient cardiovascular and EP procedures
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, communicating abnormal findings immediately
- Administer procedural sedation and medications per policy while ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Circulate during diagnostic and interventional procedures, assisting physicians and operating specialty equipment
- Document handoffs, pre/post-procedure care, and real-time procedure logs in MacLab/CardioLab
- Operate and assist with X-ray fluoroscopy, intra-cardiac ultrasound, and 3D mapping systems as needed
- Participate in the Full Stop/Time Out process and maintain strict sterile technique and privacy standards
- Precept and support new staff; contribute to unit education and professional development activities
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Experience in Cath Lab, ICU, CVICU or IMC strongly preferred (new grads and Med/Surg-only applicants not considered)
- Proven ability to independently circulate cardiovascular and EP procedures and document in real time
- Comfortable administering procedural sedation and managing invasive cardiovascular monitoring
- Excellent communication skills for handoffs and multi-disciplinary teamwork
- Willingness to maintain required certifications and pursue specialty certification or advanced degree
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN preferred
- If hired with ADN/diploma, BSN to be obtained within 36 months of hire
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
- Cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedure workflows
- X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound familiarity
- 3D mapping systems operation and EP device procedure support
- Sterile technique, procedure room preparation, and circulating nurse duties
- MacLab/CardioLab documentation and real-time procedure logging
- Medication administration related to procedural sedation
- Strong patient assessment, safety vigilance, and effective handoff communication
