Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care to medical-surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment including ventilators, A-lines, invasive lines, and multiple IV pumps
- Perform thorough patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions
- Serve as a clinical leader on the unit, guiding and directing RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff
- Assist with discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care
- Precept and mentor new staff members to help build a skilled, confident team
- Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, and leadership to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure required
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS, EPNC, and TNCC preferred
- Practice experience in an advanced medical-surgical setting plus recent critical care nursing experience required
- Demonstrated ability to operate advanced monitoring and life support equipment
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and ability to lead on the unit
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced nursing principles and procedures relevant to critical care
- Patient assessment and advanced patient monitoring
- Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator support
- Management of central lines including arterial lines and invasive lines
- Use and troubleshooting of multiple IV pumps
- Discharge planning and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Clinical leadership and precepting skills
