Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine studies and ensure they are safe and informed.
- Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols.
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as gamma cameras, dose calibrators, and survey meters.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to infection control and PPE requirements.
- Communicate findings and coordinate effectively with radiologists and physicians.
- Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support colleagues and learners.
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii Nuclear Medicine Technologist license (required)
- Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
- One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiopharmaceutical administration, nuclear medicine physics, and safety protocols
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to work independently in a single-tech site
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient preparation for nuclear medicine studies
- Diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging and protocols
- Operation of dose calibrator, gamma camera, survey meters, well counter, and thyroid uptake probe
- Radiopharmaceutical administration and radiation safety practices
- Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
- Effective communication with radiologists, physicians, and patients
- Comfort working in a rural community hospital setting
