Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic sonographic exams across abdominal and OB/GYN specialties for radiologist interpretation
- Provide compassionate patient care and assist with safe patient transfers
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation for each exam
- Apply radiation protection principles and exercise professional judgement in procedures
- Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and manage procedure paperwork
- Care for transducers and maintain the Trophon station and neat work area
- Participate in departmental quality assurance, accreditation efforts, and policy/procedure prep
- Pursue continuing education and RDMS certification to advance practice
- Rotate shifts as required and assume department responsibility in supervisor's absence
Qualifications
- Current ARDMS in at least one category required (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association (required)
- Able to perform diagnostic exams related to assigned modality (AB/OB experience preferred)
- Willingness to rotate shifts and travel between SEARHC sites as needed
- Strong patient assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to continuing education and pursuit of additional RDMS categories
Education
- Current ARDMS certification in one category (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic medical sonography principles and modalities
- Familiarity with radiation protection and patient safety practices
- Experience with transducer care and Trophon station maintenance
- Understanding of quality assurance, accreditation processes, and documentation
- Ability to work with patients across all age groups and cultural backgrounds
- Calm performance under stress and ability to cover departmental responsibilities
