Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and professional standards
- Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), delivering hands-on, evidence-based OT services
- Supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy staff, including direct supervision of COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Lead the clinical education and competency program to maintain staff skills and confidence
- Develop, maintain, and enforce OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, documentation, and discharge planning
- Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, facility policies, and professional standards
- Oversee documentation practices and discharge planning to support continuity of care and quality outcomes
- Contribute to program development and administrative tasks (about 20% of time) to improve services and patient experience
Qualifications
- Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
- Currently licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of California (required)
- Possess any additional qualifications recommended by the CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department (required)
- Experience supervising COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians and leading clinical teams
- Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) preferred
- Strong clinical skills with demonstrated ability to evaluate/treat patients and oversee documentation and discharge planning
Education
- Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
