Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored instruction in an elementary self-contained Functional Skills program
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs aligned to student goals
• Differentiate lessons and materials to meet diverse learning needs
• Monitor progress and use data to inform instruction and interventions
• Collaborate with paraeducators, therapists and families to support each student
• Maintain clear, timely communication with parents and school staff
• Manage classroom routines and behavior supports to create a safe learning environment
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive school culture

Qualifications

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate in Special Education or eligibility for certification
• Endorsement or experience supporting self-contained Functional Skills classrooms
• Demonstrated ability to write and manage IEPs and progress reporting
• Clear background check and fingerprint clearance as required by the district
• Strong classroom management, communication and collaboration skills
• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required
• Master's degree in Special Education or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• IEP development and implementation
• Differentiated instruction and functional curriculum design
• Behavior supports and positive behavior intervention strategies
• Progress monitoring and data-driven decision making
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive materials
• Team collaboration with paraeducators, specialists and families
