Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
• Monitor and accurately document vital signs and resident condition changes
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention efforts, including transfers and ambulation assistance
• Communicate observations and concerns promptly to the nursing team and document per policy
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful, empathetic care

Qualifications

• Active CNA certification (or eligible to obtain) required for assignment in Maine
• Completion of a state-approved CNA program
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtain upon hire if required by facility
• Current immunizations and successful background and health screenings as required
• Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a collaborative care team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved CNA training program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care techniques
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Basic charting and documentation skills; ability to follow policies and care plans
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Teamwork, flexibility, and good time-management in a fast-paced care setting
