Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care in the Emergency Department
• Rapidly assess patients and initiate appropriate emergency interventions
• Develop and communicate clear patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly
• Respond efficiently to emergency situations and coordinate resources as needed
• Operate departmental equipment and computer systems to support patient care
• Advocate for patients and families, ensuring dignity, confidentiality, and respect

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine or authorization to practice pending licensure by endorsement
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• BCLS required; ACLS and PALS required (within six months of hire date)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in Emergency Department nursing
• Experience with 12-hour night shifts and the ability to function independently
• Excellent assessment, documentation, communication, and computer skills
• Ability to act rapidly and efficiently in emergency situations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)

• Emergency Department nursing practices and triage principles
• Comprehensive patient assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record use
• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Emergency response procedures and crisis management
• Patient-family centered care and confidentiality best practices
• Basic computer proficiency for charting and order entry
