Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg and Oncology patients, including step-down care for complex cases
• Assess patients regularly, monitor for changes, and intervene promptly for sickle cell crises and oncology-related complications
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and in line with facility protocols and chemotherapy standards (if Chemo-certified)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans and support timely discharges
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, symptom management, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record and complete required skills checklists and certifications
• Support unit initiatives for quality improvement, infection control, and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license with Nursys License Verification (required)
• Minimum 2 years experience in the specialty (Med/Surg/Oncology/Step-down) in a similar-size setting (explicit requirement)
• Med/Surg and Oncology experience; step-down experience preferred
• Chemotherapy certification preferred (Chemo-certified nurses strongly encouraged to apply)
• Complete candidate profile with work history/resume (no gaps greater than 60 days), skills checklist, references, and certification card
• Badge-appropriate photo and full demographic profile loaded into candidate portal prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in Med/Surg, Oncology, and Step-down patient care
• Experience managing sickle cell crises and complex oncology diagnoses
• Safe IV therapy and medication administration practices; chemo administration knowledge is a plus
• Strong patient assessment, triage, and clinical decision-making skills
• Clear, compassionate patient and family education abilities
• Reliable documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
• Team collaboration and effective communication across disciplines
