Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Monitor and document patient status changes and communicate them to the nursing team
- Assist with safe transfers, ambulation and positioning to promote patient comfort and safety
- Support infection control practices and maintain a clean, orderly patient environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Respect patient dignity and provide emotional support to patients and families
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — required
- Valid authorization to practice as a CNA in New Mexico or ability to obtain state authorization
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Reliable attendance, strong communication skills, and a team-first attitude
- Experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; successful completion of an approved CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and basic patient care tasks
- Knowledge of infection prevention and patient safety practices
- Good observational and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team
- Respectful, patient-centered communication with patients and families
