Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for a variety of surgical cases
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR team members to ensure safe, efficient patient flow
- Perform thorough preoperative assessments and prepare patients and equipment for surgery
- Maintain strict sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols
- Respond rapidly and effectively to Level 1 trauma cases and other high-acuity situations
- Complete required skills checklist and document competency to maintain high standards of care
- Participate in post-operative patient handoffs and provide clear communication for continuity of care
Qualifications
- Previous travel nurse experience required
- Operating Room (OR) nursing experience required
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- Night/overnight shift experience required
- High rating on skills checklist required
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform under pressure
- Burn experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR workflows
- Familiarity with trauma protocols and rapid assessment in high-acuity cases
- Ability to manage complex cases and assist across multiple surgical specialties
- Strong communication skills for clear handoffs and team coordination
- Comfort with overnight workflows and maintaining situational awareness during long shifts
- Competency documentation and willingness to complete skills checklists
