Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with endoscopy procedures including EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and EBUS with adherence to safety protocols
- Scrub and circulate for bronchoscopy and ION-guided procedures using FUJI scopes and ERBE equipment
- Monitor and manage conscious sedation and recover patients from monitored anesthesia care
- Maintain airway management and respond promptly to patient changes during procedures
- Handle, label and process specimens accurately to support diagnostic quality
- Document patient care clearly and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and compliance
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, lift teams) to deliver excellent patient outcomes
- Participate in orientation, unit trainings and adhere to facility policies including holiday and call expectations
Qualifications
- Active Alaska RN license required (must have license in hand for auto offer; pending licenses accepted with preference for AK in hand)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- BLS required; ACLS, PALS and SGNA certifications preferred
- Demonstrated experience with endoscopy procedures (EUS, EBUS, ERCP, ION, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, EGD)
- Comfortable with scrub and circulate roles in the endoscopy suite
- Able to work within facility RTO and on-call scheduling guidelines (1 time off request per 13-week assignment; on-call every 5th weekend)
- Willingness to work inpatient and outpatient endoscopy settings and a patient ratio experience of 1:2
Education
- Active RN license (Alaska) - required
- Formal nursing education (RN) - ADN or BSN (licensure is the critical requirement)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in monitoring conscious sedation and recovering patients post-procedure
- Skilled in airway management and immediate post-procedure interventions
- Experience with Epic charting and accurate specimen handling/labeling
- Familiarity with FUJI scopes, ERBE systems and ION equipment
- Strong procedural knowledge of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
- Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced acute hospital settings
