Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform casting and fiberglass applications with precision, including window, univalve, wedging and trim techniques
• Apply and fit braces and immobilizers, slings, cervical collars and other orthotic supports to improve patient outcomes
• Provide splinting services (short arm, long arm, thumb spica, sugar tong variations) and custom molding as needed
• Remove and replace cast blades, trim and remove casts safely using cast saw skills
• Assist with pin insertions and sterile dressing techniques to support procedures and follow-up care
• Deliver gait training, crutch/cane fitting, and patient education to promote safe mobility and recovery
• Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Support outpatient clinic flow across assigned locations (Tarzana home base; cover Mission Hills when called)

Qualifications

• Must hold OTC certification through NBCOT (required)
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient orthopedic technician experience
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred and required for documentation
• Proven skills in casting, splinting, cast saw use and brace fitting
• Comfortable assisting with pin insertions, sterile dressings and suture removal
• Ability to float between Tarzana and Mission Hills clinic locations as needed
• Pending state license not accepted — active/valid credentials as required
• First-time travelers accepted — open to clinicians new to travel assignments

Education

• NBCOT OTC certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Casting/Fiberglass/Synthetic cast application and removal techniques
• Splinting and molding for upper and lower extremities
• Bracing, immobilizer selection and adjustment
• Crutch and cane fitting, gait training, and patient education
• Sterile dressing techniques and basic wound/suture aftercare
• Experience documenting in EPIC and communicating with outpatient teams
• Comfort working in busy outpatient clinic settings and supporting procedure rooms
