Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to patients in the facility
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Perform nursing assessments and document findings in the health record
• Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and facility personnel to coordinate care
• Follow infection control and safety protocols specific to a correctional healthcare setting
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain clinical competencies
• Maintain clear, timely communication and escalate changes in patient condition

Qualifications

• Current, active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in California
• Willingness and ability to work in a correctional facility (ISP - Ironwood State Prison)
• Available for Wednesday–Sunday day shifts (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) and a 2-week Mon–Fri orientation
• Ability to pass required background checks and facility clearance
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain upon hire
• Previous clinical nursing experience in medical or institutional settings preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing program or equivalent diploma

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and basic clinical procedures
• Patient assessment, vital signs, and documentation
• Familiarity with electronic health records and charting
• Infection control, safety protocols, and correctional facility procedures
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
